New Hampshire Insurance Company Sued by Former Atlanta Hawks Ownership Group Over Settlement Breach

The Atlanta Hawks Basketball and Entertainment LLC (AHBE) recently filed a lawsuit against New Hampshire insurance company. In the lawsuit, the former Atlanta Hawks ownership group claimed that the insurance company breached a contract established by them and Danny Ferry who is the insurance company’s former general manager. The lawsuit excludes Forbes billionaire Tony Ressler, the current principal owner of Atlanta Hawks.

AHBE filed the lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court on September 13, 2016. The former ownership group also claimed that New Hampshire insurance company provided them with an insurance policy that covered employment losses, workplace torts, and wrongful termination. Ferry assured AHBE one year ago that his insurance company covered the employment losses.

The lawsuit’s court documents stated that AHBE’s claim is confidential. The documents also stated that AHBE’s claims are valid because of the insurance company’s policy on confidential limits of liability. The reports pointed out that New Hampshire insurance company refused to agree that they breached their policy. AHBE accused the insurance company of refusing to take part in the defense of the claims when Ferry’s counsel held discussions with the former ownership group of Atlanta Hawks.
